Medicare is a federal health insurance program providing benefits for people age 65 or older, people under age 65 with certain disabilities, and people of all ages with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant. Original Medicare which is administered directly by the federal government (and is the way most people get their Medicare) has two parts: A and B. Medicare Part C is not a separate benefit, but rather the part of Medicare policy that allows private health insurance companies to provide Medicare benefits. Medicare Part D is the part of Medicare that provides outpatient prescription drug coverage and can only be provided through federally approved private insurance companies.   • Inpatient care in a hospital
  • Skilled nursing facility (folllowing a hospital stay)
  • Home health care services and hospice care services
  • Has deductibles, copayments, and out-of-pocket expenses
  • Most people do not pay a monthly premium for Part A if you or your spouse paid Medicare taxes while working

  • Cover doctor's services
  • Outpatient care, home health and other medical services
  • Covers some preventive services
  • Medicare Part B has deductibles and co-insurance

  • Offered by private insurance medicare enrollment companies approved by and under contract with Medicare
  • Includes all benefits and services offered by Part A and Part B, and typically includes prescription drug coverage, Part D
  • May include extra coverage, such as vision, hearing, dental, and/or health and wellness programs
  • May require additional premium payment in addition to your Part B premium

  • Offered by private companies approved by and under contract with Medicare.
  • Plan is to help cover the cost of prescription drugs.
  • May help lower your prescription drug costs and help protect against higher costs in the future.
  • Medicare Part D is available to everyone with Medicare.
